1200mm 17km Water Pipeline Scheme

Brief

  • A £25 million, 17km pipeline scheme to transfer an extra 23 million litres of treated water a day to customers in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.
  • Route feasibility was the first task for Dalcour Maclaren in 2006. With a full EIA required Dalcour Maclaren has been a key part of the project team.
  • The scheme is now almost complete with close liaison now with the contractors for snagging reinstatement issues and negotiations of claims.

Risks & Constraints

  • Crown Estate and Public Relationships matters due to extensive tree clearing and works within an open access area with stakeholders including mountain bike clubs, walking groups and emergency services to name but a few
  • SPA and SSI designations
  • Network Rail auger bore
  • Planning Permission with tight Deadlines

Solutions

Through close liaison with key stakeholders such as The Crown Estate and the Borough Council we were able to negotiate key concerns associated with working through an SPA designated for rare ground nesting bird species. Working closely with ecologists and stakeholders with interests in open access areas suitable planning conditions were agreed leading to a successful project.
