  • I joined Dalcour Maclaren in 2011 with the ambition of becoming a Chartered Surveyor but without an RICS accredited degree. I was supported through a distance-learning course where I gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Surveying. The graduate programme was really helpful and I successfully passed the RICS APC in November 2013. Throughout my time at Dalcour Maclaren I have worked with a number of water utility clients on their strategic mains projects as well as helping with property management. I also advise clients on strategic matters such as land registration and planning and development. I really feel that I have come a long way in the last three years.

  • I joined Dalcour Maclaren in 2013 after I saw an advert referring to the Graduate program which specifically mentioned the RICS Associate Membership route. This was appealing to me as my degree wasn’t RICS accredited and I wanted to work as a Land Agent in the Utility Sector. The DM Graduate Training Programme has provided me with extensive experience combined with the support and training necessary for sitting the RICS Associate Assessment. I have recently submitted my Associate Assessment and am awaiting the outcome. In the meantime, I continue to assist in the delivery of large scale infrastructure projects.

  • Following completion of my degree in 2010 at Harper Adams University College I joined Dalcour Maclaren as a graduate surveyor. I was enrolled on the RICS APC programme as the sole candidate in the Bicester office at that time. In October 2012, with support and guidance, I progressed through the programme and passed my APC exam first time to become a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor. Following qualification I have taken on more responsibility for managing my client's' larger schemes, becoming highly involved in the management of their portfolio of work. I have developed and grown with the company and have the scope to progress as the company advances.

Graduate Surveyors 2019

We are seeking hard working graduates who are passionate about following a career in Rural Surveying. Our graduates are immediately enrolled on our RICS approved Graduate trainee scheme when they join us so that they can get started on their APC journey as soon as possible. DM offer a structured candidate-driven training programme, which is designed to bring out the best in our graduate surveyors.

Work Experience 2019

We have been offering work experience opportunities since 2015 and it has been a great way of getting to know some budding surveyors, with some even coming back to join us as graduates after completing their degrees. This year will be no exception, and we are pleased to be able to offer a variety of different schemes to students: These range from a week of unpaid work experience, to a one month paid placement over the summer, and new for 2019 a three-month paid internship.

Placement Opportunities at Dalcour Maclaren

This year we will have placement positions at our offices in Maidstone, Crewe, Mansfield, Cirencester Thetford and Bicester. The successful applicants will be assisting Senior Surveyors and Surveyors on projects and will need to be self-assured, have good communication skills, attention to detail and good agricultural knowledge. IT skills are essential along with a willingness to embrace new IT systems. The candidates must have their own car.
